Having a ball raising money for HemiHelp

sue and her husband brianSue Hargis tells us why she chose to support HemiHelp -  and how she had a ball raising money for us

I heard about HemiHelp through my youngest daughter, whose friend had premature twin boys. The pregnancy was very short and at 26 weeks the boys were born weighing as much as a bag of sugar. As you might expect the boys spent weeks in intensive care and after lots of love and care by their parents and the hospital staff they were allowed home (but not without a few problems).

My daughter’s friend spoke about hemiplegia and the work that you do with families and children with this condition.  Having a young baby at the best of times is hard enough but to have two, with very different needs is very daunting. Over the last 13 months I have been blessed with three healthy, beautiful grandchildren and I count myself very lucky to not have had a child with difficulties.

I was overwhelmed by the support that you offer to families and when I was lucky enough to organise a Ladies Charity Festive Ball, I wanted the proceeds to benefit a charity that was different from other charities that seem to be well sponsored. In these difficult times I know it is hard to reach into your pockets for donations, so the ladies night was a great way of having a good evening and helping your wonderful organisation. In total we raised £900.

I hope the money will be helpful and that you continue to keep up the good work and give these young people the help that they deserve.
