HemiHelp's home visitor for the southern region Barbara Humphries has devised a new presentation to take education workers through the underlying effects of hemiplegia.
Entitled 'What you see is NOT what you get' the presentation explains that the physical effects of hemiplegia are often less of a problem than the emotional and other unseen aspects of the condition.
In addition to explaining the physical symptoms of hemiplegia, the presentation lists unseen social, behavioural and learning difficulties associated with the condition and suggests some key signs for teachers to look out for.
If you are a teacher or parent/carer of a child with hemiplegia and would like to learn more about the presentation, please email homevisit@hemihelp.org.uk.
