The HemiHelp Ball

On Friday 4th November HemiHelp held its inaugural fundraising Ball at London’s Savoy Hotel. The evening was a huge success, attended by nearly 300 guests. It was a wonderful evening and helped us to raise a staggering £150,000, wildly exceeding our expectations!

Money on the night came from a fantastic auction presided over by TV’s Charlie Ross and a wonderful selection of silent auction prizes as well as from a very entertaining game of ‘higher or lower’ where guests answered trivia questions about hemiplegia! The evening included an outstanding piano recital of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin by pianist Oliver Poole, who played at our Children Helping Children Concert in February of this year.

Neuro paediatrician Dr Charlie Fairhurst and Katy Roberts (aged 13) both made brilliant speeches. Katy spoke about her life with hemiplegia, the struggles and the triumphs and why it is so important that children and families get the support they need.

This event would not have been possible without the tireless support of the HemiHelp Ball Committee Paul Riseborough, Sheridan Humphreys, Patricia Astley and Debbie Ball. And a huge thank you goes out to everyone who bought a ticket, made a donation or bid in the auction. This money will make such a huge difference to the support HemiHelp can provide to children and families affected by hemiplegia.
