A word from Amanda...
"I live in York with my husband and three children. My son, Paddy, is the reason I became a member of HemiHelp. Just before his fourth birthday he suffered two strokes and has been left with left sided hemiplegia and other associated conditions.
We learnt just how much hemiplegia impacts on the whole family and we continue to learn on a daily basis all about the positive and the challenging aspects of being a family like ours.
I have always felt that once a child receives a diagnosis, the family seems to be cut adrift to face a myriad of daunting tasks, including the DLA application process and the education authority’s complex Statement of Need system."
