Support services
HemiHelp is first and foremost a support group for the parents of children with hemiplegia, providing information and support through our helpline, message board and online assessment service.
Helpline
We have a helpline run by trained volunteers who are themselves parents of children and young people with hemiplegia. The helpline is open from Monday to Friday during term time, from 10am to 1pm, and it is also now open on a Monday evening 20:00-21:00 (except on public holidays) on 0845 123 2372. Email support
You can also contact our helpline through the HemiHelp website or by emailing support@hemihelp.org.uk. Due to the volume of enquiries we receive it may not be possible to deal with all enquiries immediately, but we will aim to reply within 5 working days. If the enquiry is urgent you can always call our telephone helpline on 0845 123 2372.
Home visiting service
HemiHelp is piloting a new service, where professional field workers visit families in their own homes. Find out more about the Home Visiting Service >>
Message board
HemiHelp's Message Board facility is a friendly online community where you can share experiences, information and tips with others.
Online assessments
HemiHelp has been piloting a free, internet-based assessment service for the psychological complications of hemiplegia, run by Dr Robert Goodman of the Brain and Behaviour Clinic at Maudsley Hospital in South London. We're not currently accepting any new families for assessment, but hope to make the service available to a wider range of families in the near future.
